The Medical/Surgical/Orthopedic department at CHI Health Mercy Hospital is a two unit department which consists of a 28 bed unit and a 22 bed overflow unit. Mercy Hospital is located in Council Bluffs Iowa and has a strong community presence. Our unit has received Joint Commission's Advanced Certified Total Hip and Total Knee designation. Our patient population includes total joint replacement, orthopedic fracture, spine, podiatry, wound care, infusion, urology, renal, gastrointestinal, general surgery, oncology and pediatric. All of our patient rooms are private rooms with computers, dinamaps, and telemetry. Our care team consists of RNs, LPNs, Student Nurse Interns, CNAs, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Lab, Dietary and Hospital Medicine.

What You’ll Do
Contribute to the assessment of the health status of patients
Assist patients with taking their medications on time, meals, attending to personal needs, and change wound dressings as needed.
Play a vital role as a liaison between our patients and their care teams.
Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate members of the treatment team with direction of the Charge Nurse
Grow your skills in a diverse and multicultural environment.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need
Must be at least 16 years of age as required by state
Nurse Assistants must be on the Nurse Aide Registry of the State in which you work upon hire
BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association upon hire
