Google Data Center Quality Engineer in Council Bluffs, Iowa

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Materials, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 5 years of experience working in computing hardware quality, product engineering, test engineering, or electronic hardware systems issue resolution.

  • Experience in data analysis and visualization using SQL, JMP, or Python.

  • Experience working with reliability and quality test data or manufacturing execution systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.

  • Certification in CRE/CQE (Certified Reliability/Quality Engineer) or equivalent experience.

  • 8 years of experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Product Engineering of cloud hardware technology or electronic hardware systems.

  • Experience with advanced statistical (or statistics based) methodologies (e.g., design of experiments, statistical process controls, six sigma, etc.).

  • Experience leading cross-functional Engineering teams using a practical and solution-oriented approach.

  • Experience of technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.

Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $111,000-$163,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Lead technical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and resolution to ensure product quality and successful field deployment.

  • Drive product, process, and tool innovation/improvement projects, both independently and collaboratively.

  • Gather and analyze manufacturing/field data to identify actionable insights and drive continuous improvement.

  • Monitor, analyze, and present product performance data to stakeholders for informed decision-making.

  • Develop, maintain, and improve technical documentation based on data, investigations, feedback, and quality standards.
