Green Hills AEA School Psychologist (2025-2026) in Council Bluffs, Iowa

Green Hills AEA is recruiting for a School Psychologist or School Psychology Intern, This position is a full time position for a 190 day contract.

Applicant must be eligible for Iowa licensing through the Board of Educational Examiners. For interns, we do provide paid internships and a supervisor to work with your university requirements.

Green Hills AEA employs employees across the southwest region of the state, serving all public and non-public schools in our service area.

Starting salary will be between $54,143 - 82,023 for recent graduates, and increased for each year of experience in an educational setting for all others, for a 190 day contract. General Summary: Enhance the educational programs of students by assisting with identification and assessment of the students educational needs including social, emotional, behavioral and adaptive needs; providing intervention services including brief individual, group, parents and family counseling; providing consultation and planning; and serving as a liaison between home, school and community.

Engage in GHAEA problem solving approach to address questions

related to student needs

a. Take lead in Child Find activities including:

i. Comprehensive Full Individual Evaluations for Special Education, including the Disability Suspect process, and re-evaluations

ii. Review of records

iii. Observations

iv. Interviewing students, parents, teachers, and other individuals to support data driven decisions;

v. Administering and interpreting individual and/or systemic assessments to drive decisions

vi. Facilitate eligibility and discussion meetings

Engage in consultation and collaboration with LEA, AEA, parent, medical, and community agencies to:

a. Support planning around specially designed instruction

b. Engage in prevention and intervention activities.

Support the development of compliant and quality IEPs.

All services performed in accordance with the established policies, procedures, and philosophies of the Green Hills Area Education Agency, the rules and regulations of the Iowa State Department of Education including the Iowa Teaching Standards with AEA criteria, and Code of Ethics specific to discipline

Are able to use a variety of technologies to carry out the functions of their roles. This includes, but is not limited to, personal computers, tablet devices, video conferencing, and others when requested or needed for the role.

Assist the Green Hills AEA system in any matter that may command priority and bring to their attention issues of concern regarding special education services and programs to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Social workers, school psychologists, and special education consultants report directly to their supervisor and operate, as designated, under the authority of the special education director at GHAEA

Consultative and collaborative services:

a. Implement and/or serve as a liaison for services to learners such as, but not limited to individual/group counseling, home visits, and referrals to community agencies, as determined by parameters provided in training and the individuals professional judgment.

Systems level services:

b. Collaborate to design, implement, and evaluate effective policies and practices across multiple areas of school functioning to enhance learning and student well-being, including when necessary classroom-wide interventions Preventive and Responsive Services:

c. Use knowledge of risk and resiliency factors to promote services that enhance learning, mental health, safety and well-being, including positive beha ior supports, effective crisis preparation, response and recovery.

School psychologists, when needed, are additionally responsible for:

d. Taking lead in initial development of FBA/BIPs and support review of these documents

Provide counseling services if;

i. Determined an educational need for entitled students

ii. Necessary for short term intervention
