Duties & Responsibilities:(Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)Assists the District’s communications team with preparing communications materials and marketing activities, as well as coordinating District community engagement activities and events. Work includes the creative development of new ideas to promote the District’s brand, as well as planning and promoting programs, special events and activities for the District.Major Function #1: Social Media/Digital Marketing

  • Create marketing collateral for a variety of the District’s communications platforms and communications campaigns

  • Identify news-worthy stories, website and social media content, and which distribution strategies to implement

  • Compose and edit content for publications, videos, social media, and website.

  • Develop social media content including photography, infographics and written material

  • Assist with social media monitoring Conduct field-based video and photo production by utilizing a variety of equipment, such as professional camera, video camera, phone camera/video, to collect content for various platforms

  • In tandem with the Communications Team, assist with short-term and long-range communications plans for the District based on identified outcomes

Major Function #2: Website Management

  • Assist in web development and CMS management

  • Assist in keeping the District’s website up to date with current information, auditing the website’s content for broken links, ADA compliance and imagery

Major Function #3: Event and Outreach Coordination

  • Coordinate and plan the District’s community engagement initiatives

  • Plan, organize, collaborate and execute District events and engagement activities with partners from across the District organization, community partners, and neighborhood groups

  • Assist with planning, logistics, coordination and execution of event day responsibilities for District events, ceremonies and other District activities

  • Provide coordination for District departments in responding to neighborhood initiatives, events or requests

  • Attends community partnership meetings, neighborhood meetings, and community events

    Skills/Education/Experience Required:(Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)

  • Requires an Associates of Arts Degree in graphic design, mass communications, digital media, public relations, organizational management, or related field and two years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, mass communications, digital media, public relations, organizational management or related field.

  • Knowledge and experience with social media messaging and content production

  • Knowledge and experience with graphic design

  • Knowledge and experience with web Content Management Systems

  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills

  • Thorough understanding of digital media and technology

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work

  • Takes initiative and responsibility for individual and teamwork

  • Ability to establish effective relationships with staff, partner organizations and neighborhood groups

  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines

  • Knowledge of basic photography and videography

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Suite; photo and video-editing software is an asset

  • Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
