Eaton’s Mission Systems Division is currently seeking a Engineering Product Support Manager. This position is located in the growing Quad Cities, specifically in Davenport, IA. Eaton's Mission Systems is the Top 20 major employers in the area.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. The Davenport facility has 900 employees and is leader in in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of aerospace mission systems components, systems and services to the US defense and commercial global aftermarket and OEM markets. World Leader in Air to Air Refueling technology.

What you’ll do:

The primary function of this position is to lead the Product Support Engineering Team supporting Sustaining and RMU activities. The individual manages a team of engineers focused on providing technical support to manufacturing operations and customers for in-service applications. The manager is responsible for ensuring products meet airworthiness specification, customers, or regulatory agencies throughout the production lifecycle. This will often include design changes and requalification as required, resulting from production issues, in-service issues, or discretionary product changes for the purposes of retrofit, maintainability, or upgrade (RMU). The manager is also responsible for assessing technical support needed and ensures appropriate team member skillsets are assigned. The manager establishes the strategy for the team’s daily and full year objectives and ensures accountability for overall team’s success to objectives. Typical objectives of the team include RCCA investigations for customer in-service issues, RCCA investigations for internal producibility issues, product cost out projects, warranty improvement projects, material disposition reviews, and product sustainment projects.

• Overall responsibility for investigations of product failures, redesign and requalification of RMU projects, product cost out projects, timely material discrepancy reviews, and product first pass yield improvements.

• Leads team with direct involvement in root cause and corrective action implementation, appropriateness of material dispositions, determinations of supplier non-conformances, support obsolescence planning, participates in product design reviews, test/certification plans, and production readiness planning.

• Provide leadership and management oversight of the team including priority setting, goal setting, and performance management.

• Strong detailed understanding of the functionality of Davenport products and the application of these products in the field.

• Uses and champions structured problem-solving techniques, such as 8Ds, with strong communication/presentation skills for reporting status to customers and/or senior management.

• Actively participates with engineering management team(s), developing product strategy, budgets, and goals.

• Attend internal design reviews conducted by the team or other engineering design teams, as subject matter expert, to critique and recommend design solutions on various Sustaining/RMU projects.

• Guide team to prepare and conduct design reviews and RCCA report-outs directly with customer.

• Actively participates with senior management team(s), developing strategy, budgets, and goals. Presents technical reviews to senior managers covering the progression of team’s projects.

• Prepare Sustaining and RMU engineering proposals, selecting the best design concept solution including compliance to customer specifications and industry regulatory requirements. Estimate engineering effort required for new projects and outline the proposed design concept accurately enough for project and unit cost to be estimated.

• Direct, coach, and mentor extended work team, leveraging global engineering resources.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

•Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment

•Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, direct or indirect

•Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

•This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee

•No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 70 miles of the Davenport, IA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering

•Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering in an aerospace manufacturing environment

•5 years leading New Product Development or Research and Development including direct management and supervision of technical professionals

•Experience with Eaton Mission Systems Products preferred.

• Knowledge of aerospace component test methods and capabilities

• Ability to interpret aerospace technical requirements and knowledge of industry standard requirements

• Knowledge of standard aerospace manufacturing processes and ability to design for manufacturability

• Experience with Structured Problem Solving practices including the use of Six Sigma methods.• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Greenbelt certification
