Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)NOTE: ALL CURRENT PARA EDUCATORS, TO BE CONSIDERD FOR THIS POSITION THE FOLLOWING MUST BE COMPLETED PER THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU): *Complete an internal bid as you normally would, via the district homepage *Submit Letter of Intent for the position to Gina Ekstrom, District Nurse by 11/05/2024, 4PM. *Submit Two (2) letters of reference: One (1) from a supervisor and one (1) from a colleague to Gina Ekstrom, District Nurse by 11/05/2024, 4PM. Internal candidates will be interviewed by a panel consisting of at least four (4) individuals including the Principal, Head Nurse, Building Nurse and one Para educator selected by the para union.
All employees working with/for the Special Education students will be required to pass the Medicaid Fraud background check, prior to hire, successfully bidding, and/or transferring to a special education position. This check is run several times a year. If at any time your name appears on the Medicaid Fraud listing, you will be notified and may be removed from your current position.
Assist students with personal hygiene, nutrition, comfort and safety issues.
Provide general/Emergent care to students as director or delegated by the Registered Nurse and building administration.
Prepare and administer medication as directed by the student's physician
Monitor students for allergic reactions and follow individual health care plans or district procedures
Respond to health related phone calls and parent questions
Monitor and check for head lice when required
Prepare and monitor health records
Maintain daily nursing office visits in Infinite Campus
Maintain regular communication with the building nurse
Correspond with parents when appropriate
Complete staff/student injury forms as needed
Perform other service or clerical duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse or school administrator(s)
Maintain daily Med Administration in Infinite Campus
Must be willing to attend trainings and complete trainings to assume the duties and responsibilities of the position yearly.
Additional duties and responsibilities may include: catheterization, tube feeding, use of electronic blood pressure equipment, use of a pulse oximeter, use of a peak flow meter and provide care to students needing medication such as diastat, intranasal versed, glucagon, insulin and epi-pen.
Must hold the Infant/Child/Adult CPR certificate prior to start date and remain current
Must hold a Mandatory Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Reporter Certificate prior to start date and remain current
Per DHS Guidelines this Children's Village position requires a background check every two (2) years, FBI fingerprinting check every four (4) years, and completed Physical every three (3) years.
Must complete the required DHS training hours each year.
Must complete Universal Precaution and Exposure Training prior to start date and remain current
Must be willing to complete the training and obtain the Medication Administration Certificate and remain current
Must be willing to work with a diverse population and treat all with dignity and respect.

Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS)
Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
