    Duties & Responsibilities:(Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

  • Responsible for weekly orchestra lessons and rehearsal for all assigned students in grade 4 and 5

  • Ensure each ensemble member have at least one performance opportunity per year, may combine grades and schools as necessary.

  • Provide an enjoyable and fun experience in orchestra while following the District's prescribed curriculum.

  • Promote the orchestra program to parents and the community.

  • Share and effectively work as a member of a team, planning lessons together, monitoring progress and making modifications that meet the specific needs of all students.

  • Support the content subject areas through the orchestra curriculum.

  • Facilitate the implementation and actualization of the Teaching and Learning Plan.

  • Attend weekly CTT meetings with content team members to review curriculum, plan for instruction and monitor student achievement data

  • Use both formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and set academic goals for improvement and acceleration

  • Complete MTSS plans for any students needing Tier II or Tier III learning/behavior interventions

  • Establish and maintain high standards of pupil behavior to achieve a positive learning atmosphere in the classroom

  • Possible lunchroom/recess duty.

  • Participate in District and building-wide staff development activities and complete all assignments associated with the areas of study

  • Organize your classroom to create a neat and appropriate climate for learning

  • Incorporate the Olweus Anti-bullying, & PBIS, strategies into your classroom.

  • Communicate with and involve families as needed to support student achievement

  • Provide on-going instruction and practice for students in building-wide procedures

  • Assist with all other duties as assigned by the principal.

  • Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.

  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
