Duties & Responsibilities: Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

  • Share and work effectively as a member of a grade level team; planning lessons, monitoring progress, analyzing assessment data, providing differentiated lessons and modifying instruction

  • Participate in IEP's, building committees, Student Intervention Team meetings

  • Perform supervision responsibilities with a belief that all staff are on duty at all times everywhere in the school environment including AM/PM outside duty, hall duty, lunch/recess duty

  • Establish and maintain high standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a structured, positive learning environment as implemented by PBIS

  • Maintain high expectations for academic standards with the belief all students can learn

  • Follow the District's prescribed curricula and researched based strategies for all subjects to prepare students to meet grade level standards

  • Collaborate with special education, ESL, para educators in an environment that welcomes all students

  • As a Title I building, support occasional extended day learning activities for students and families

  • Be willing to teach all subjects and collaborate with colleagues

  • Integrate technology into lessons and have a working knowledge of Google drive, Smart Boards, Chromebooks

  • Communicate with parents on a consistent basis regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement

  • Implement research based teaching strategies in core instruction and during interventions and enrichment.

  • Be an active participant in all district and building level staff development

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.

  • Good attendance and punctuality are necessary to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully

  • Must be willing to support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.

  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.

  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
