John F. Kennedy Catholic School in Davenport, Iowa, is seeking a 5th-8th grade band teacher, full-time preferred, but will consider part-time as well. With about 100 students in band, JFK has one of the largest band programs among the Catholic/private schools in southeast Iowa. JFK has a beginning 5th grade band, a 6th grade band, and a combined 7th/8th grade band. Individual and small group lessons typically round out the rest of the band teacher's day. Approximately 85% of JFK's 5th graders are usually in band, with the number decreasing to about 60%-65% in 7th/8th grades.
JFK is a growing Catholic school in the Diocese of Davenport with approximately 460 PS-8th grade students. JFK has received national recognition as a High Reliability School regarding its attention to creating a safe, supportive and collaborative culture. Ideal candidates have or can receive an Iowa teaching license with a K-8 and/or 5-12 music endorsement. We may be able to work with those who are needing/willing to obtain these licenses/endorsements, and out of state license holders are encouraged to apply as well.
