UnityPoint Health Patient Safety Technician in Davenport, Iowa

This position is responsible for providing support services for clients.

The work involves interacting with clients on a daily basis throughout the program schedule. Work includes monitoring client activities, providing transportation, preparing meals, and documenting in client charts. The position requires a “customer friendly” service orientation. Supervision is provided by the Support Services Supervisor or site supervisor of the facility assigned.

  • Oversee day-to-day activities of clients.

  • Enforce rules and regulations of the facility, maintain discipline and ensure safety.

  • Assist clients in identifying and resolving social and other problems through listening and answering questions.

  • Assist in the admission procedures to a program which may include the completion of paperwork, orientation of the client, checking belongings or assisting detoxification clients into pajamas.

  • Document in the client chart any significant events and a client’s participation in daily activities. Maintain client chart by filing current documents and keeping in correct order.

  • Provide transportation for clients in Agency vehicles.

  • Prepare meals and snacks for residents.

  • Maintain the safety and upkeep of the facility through safety drills, cleaning, keeping equipment in good repair and identifying physical problems with the facility.

  • Complete shift specific duties as assigned.

  • Communicate and report client activities to other staff.

  • Monitor urinalysis collection.

  • Provide laundry services as needed for the residential facility.

  • Stocks supplies.

  • Answer the telephone when the secretary is unavailable.

  • Greet the public, family members and other arrivals to the facility.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK

High School graduation (or GED) or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills:

Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation.

Knowledge of human behavior in order to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

Knowledge of the federal drug and alcohol confidentiality law (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Ability to work with a diverse population.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to work a varied schedule to include some weekends, holidays and overtime.

Ability to perform the physical demands of the position with or without reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

NECESSARY SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Possession of a valid Class “D” Iowa driver’s license or an equivalent license from the employee’s state of residence.
