WE ARE GROWING!!! We are looking to add a Research and Development (R&D) Engineering Manager to the team with Relocation Assistances for candidates outside 70 miles of Davenport, IA!

Eaton’s Mission Systems Division is currently seeking a Research and Development (R&D) Engineering Manager. This position is located in the growing Quad Cities, specifically in Davenport, IA. Eaton's Mission Systems is the Top 20 major employers in the area.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Davenport facility has 900 employees and is leader in in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of aerospace mission systems components, systems and services to the US defense and commercial global aftermarket and OEM markets. World Leader in Air to Air Refueling technology.

What you’ll do:

The primary function of this position is to lead the iR&D Engineering Team at Davenport and deliver on the iR&D projects in plan and as assigned. The manager will be responsible for setting aligned goals and evaluation of their team members as well as coaching and directing the performance of team members. This individual will be involved in short and long-range planning, ownership, and execution of technical roadmaps aligned with the business objectives. This is a working manager position that is able to independently lead an engineering team and lead across a matrixed organization

• Lead an engineering team to deliver high quality technical output on time. Provide technical advice and guidance to this team; create opportunities for growth and development. Develop culture and grow employee satisfaction, product expertise, etc.

• Provide leadership and management oversight of the team including priority setting, goal setting, and performance management.

• Develop engineering/technical skills among staff to support the iR&D initiatives. Maintain appropriate training programs to ensure continuous learning

• Maintain an IP strategy for Davenport product, liaise closely with IP professionals in Aerospace group to categorize emerging technologies and maintain trade secrets

• Responsible for planning and managing iR&D at Davenport.

• Use of tools including Design for Six Sigma where applicable.

• Budgeting and resource planning for team.

• Monitor key engineering metrics, monitor performance and implement improvements accordingly

• Develop and implement plans to transfer new products, tools, and techniques to the team for implementation in new product development.

• Participate in the strategic planning process for the site; create and maintain strategic product and technology roadmaps and lead innovations processes supporting those plans.

• Prepare engineering proposals for new or changed scope research and technology projects by compiling, preparing and providing technical data.

• Lead internal Gate Reviews for research and technology and Core product development projects. Present research and technology project status to Engineering, Site and Divisional Leadership

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

•Minimum of 7 years of experience in design and development engineering

•Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, direct or indirect

•Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

•This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering

• Master's degree in engineering and/or business management is desirable

• 5 years leading New Product Development or Research and Development including direct management and supervision of technical professionals

• Knowledge of Davenport components and systems – Oxygen systems, Nitrogen systems, Cryogenic Coolers

• Experience with Eaton Mission Systems Products preferred.

• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Greenbelt certification
