Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

  • Assignment will be at one of the middle schools as determined by the Associate Superintendent and/or designee

  • Provide services to an identified group of general education students in grades 6th-8th generated by the Student Intervention (SIT) team

  • Provide services utilizing the evidence-based framework of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)

  • Implement Check and Connect mentoring structure to promote student success and engagement at school through relationship building

  • Strengthen the family/school relationship through cooperation, coordination, and collaboration within the Check and Connect framework

  • Utilize the research-based practice of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) training to identify ACEs and create resiliency strategies to support students in social-emotional attainment and improved student achievement

  • Review individual student data on a weekly basis with student or as determined by district or building administration

  • Create and keep a detailed database of information as determined by the district or building administration to guide decision-making

  • Participate in quarterly meetings with building and district administration to review caseload information and student progress

  • Meet with individual students on a regular basis to discuss attendance, grades, and behavior

  • Provide feedback and problem-solving strategies to students to assist with goals developed through regular meetings

  • Initiate ongoing communication with families on a regular basis and keep a communication log documenting communication contacts

  • Implement efforts to keep students engaged in school

  • Collaborate with adults involved with youth, such as teachers, case managers, counselors, probation officers, and social workers

  • Develop community agency linkages to support the well-being of the students

  • Manage a caseload of up to 30 students

  • Increase daily attendance for identified students with this need

  • Decrease office referrals for identified students with this need

  • Participate in professional development as determined by district and/or building administration

  • Participate in meetings as determined by district and/or building administration

  • Assist with verbal and non-verbal de-escalation techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with students and staff in building assignment

  • Maintain confidentiality when working with students and/or staff in building assignment

  • Maintain excellent attendance and adherence to building start/end times for staff

  • Other duties as assigned by Superintendent

  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.

  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.

  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

  • Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential

  • Experience working with middle school students

  • Experience and basic understanding of computer technology

  • Experience analyzing data and making data-based decisions

  • Experience or willingness to be trained in PBIS, ACEs, Check & Connect
