Kemin Industries Accounting Manager in Des Moines, Iowa

Overview

Kemin Industries is hiring an Accounting Manager! In this role, you will prepare and review account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements for reasonableness and compliance with GAAP standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing and preparing reports as required. This will be done through the knowledge of accounting principles, company, state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to financial statements. As Accounting Manager, you must be able to quickly and accurately analyze an account or situation to ensure the safeguard of Kemin’s assets and returns to Kemin’s shareholders.

Location: Des Moines Iowa, with an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule.

Employee will be required to be onsite during each financial month end.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and prepare monthly financial packages timely and accurately.

  • Monthly prepare accurate financial projections with emphasis is on Income and Cashflow.

  • Perform requested analysis on regional and consolidated financials.

  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets.

  • Assist with audit activities; prepare work papers for external and internal audits.

  • Responsible for tracking and reporting of fixed assets, sales reporting and rebate programs.

  • Manage accounts receivable and credit.

  • Coordinate day-to-day general accounting and administrative responsibilities.

  • Development of Reports in Planful

  • Provide back up and assistance to other accounting staff.

  • Ensure compliance with the Worldwide Accounting Manual.

  • Special projects as determined.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Provide in-depth analysis of business transactions, this includes but is not limited to; pricing, profitability, customer accounts, OPEX, manufacturing costs, and sales scorecard.

  • Ability to provide accurate data consistently.

  • Research on financial accounting

  • Work with internal and external customers, such as marketing, R&D, operations, internal & external audit.

  • Develop and document improvements in financial processes and participate in cross functional projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 4+ years of experience

  • Experience in accounting required.

  • No people manager experience required, as this is an individual contributor role.

  • Experience with consolidation of multiple divisions or businesses preferred.

  • Planful reporting experience preferred.

  • Strong computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office products, and the ability to use the computer to prepare and retrieve reports and data.

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Must be able to quickly and accurately analyze an account or situation to ensure the safeguard of Kemin’s assets and returns to Kemin’s shareholders.

  • Must be able to recognize potential issues and bring to the attention of the Finance Director.

  • Ability to see and read numbers.

  • Experience with International Business, is a plus.

  • Less than 5% travel
