Wellmark - Des Moines Agile Project Methodology Consultant in Des Moines, Iowa

About the Career: The Project Methodology Consultant is responsible for the design, development and implementation of enterprise-wide Agile methodology. You will define and support project methodologies and best practices for the Project Management Team (PMT) and serve as an advocate for the Agile methodology.

Our Ideal Candidate: First and foremost, you feel effective when you are acting as a coach to help multiple scrum teams better define their work - this may be by embedding yourself in the team, or stepping in to act as the scrum master when needed. You have experience designing a strategy for organizational adoption of agile which includes the introduction of agile, training, and supporting agile teams. You may have been told by past peers or leaders that you have a knack for working within the gray area and can also help others navigate through it as well.   • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience

  • A minimum of 4+ years’ experience to include any combination of the following

  • Of which, 2+ years’ experience working within an Agile environment. Can be a combination of experience as a SCRUM Master, product owner, agile coach or agile project manager

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of Agile principles and change management and ability to right-size project management methodology to support the agile initiatives

  • Ability to coordinate activities with business and technology overlaps

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and communicating with varying levels of leadership

  • Demonstrated experience in effective presentation delivery to groups of varying sizes

  • Strong relationship builder; ability to lead individuals from multiple business areas with various levels and skills

  • Ability to present, guide and discuss information in a manner that influences, educates, and enhances understanding at all levels

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and an orientation toward change

a. In support of an assigned methodology, responsible for the design, development and implementation of enterprise-wide project methodology transformational strategies. The role will define and support project methodologies and best practices for the Project Management Team (PMT) and serve as an advocate for assigned project management methodology.

b. Partner and influence technology and business stakeholders, as well as all levels of leadership, to set project management standards and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the systems development life-cycle (SDLC).

c. Partner with teams to determine the level of coaching needed and have the ability to support the teams in writing user stories, feature decomposition, grooming sessions and sprint planning sessions.

d. Create and maintain procedures for adherence to methodology process and standards. Provide input and guidance to dedicated assigned project methodology focus groups. Support the initiative through the collaboration and partnership with other Project Methodology Consultants.

e. Collaborate with delivery leaders and stakeholders to establish and maintain appropriate project management methodologies and ensure consistency and efficiency within the division.

f. Promote continuous improvement and sustainability of project methodology by collecting feedback, conducting research, providing input and making recommendations on process improvement opportunities and gaps within the methodology.

g. Support efforts to improve artifact effectiveness and process alignment by reviewing and reporting on artifact usage, completeness and quality.

h. Promote the adoption of project methodologies through support of new project initiation, management of project execution, and/or project management transition activities as required.

i. Ensure the appropriate metrics, artifacts, and tools are used effectively in order to help facilitate data drive decision making for your assigned methodology (e.g. Agile, Waterfall).

j. Influence and mentor users of the project methodology to take ownership of components for future development.

k. Other duties as assigned.
