Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller in Des Moines, Iowa. This role involves being hands-on in the month-end close process for a leading distributor in the industry. You will be preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, processing commissions, handling sales tax payments, and preparing monthly financial statements.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries

• Perform reconciliations as part of the financial review process

• Process sales commissions accurately and in a timely manner

• Handle sales tax payments, ensuring all tax laws and regulations are adhered to

• Prepare monthly financial statements, providing a clear and accurate view of the company's financial status

• Utilize advanced Excel skills, including Vlookups, Xlookups, pivot tables, and IF statements, to analyze financial data

• Use industry knowledge of wholesale distribution and manufacturing to guide financial decisions

• Contribute to the growth of the company by leveraging your 5+ years of related experience in accounting.

This role does not require any specific employment duration and is open for those with a BA in Accounting. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years experience in an Assistant Controller role or similar

• Proficient in Month End Close processes

• Experience in Financial Statement Preparation

• Knowledge and experience in handling Sales Tax

• Familiarity with Wholesale distribution industry practices

• Experience in a Manufacturing environment

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
