Atlantic Bottling Company Automated System Operator in Des Moines, Iowa

Overview/Function: The Automation System Operator assists and facilitates case-picking and sorting activities within an assigned portion of the automated warehouse utilizing computers, software, and complex machines; proactively monitoring upcoming orders; guiding and assigning team members to ensure efficient operation. This role also provides performance-based feedback, provides work direction and guidance to the team, assists the Vertique Supervisor in interviewing potential candidates, and provides key support as designated by the Automation Supervisor. Finally, the System Operator is expected to adhere to all established Atlantic Bottling safety procedures and policies, must have the ability to multi-task and make sound proactive decisions in a noisy and busy work environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Operate VPS Vertique Picking and loading software within the automation environment with a high degree of competence and accuracy.

  • Maintain proper function of automation system using advanced problem-solving skills, including simple data manipulation.

  • Maintain a full understanding of package dimensions, descriptions, and SKU numbers.

  • Troubleshoot powered conveyors for simple malfunctions.

  • Participate in regular housekeeping duties within the machines as well as in the warehouse.

  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Experience & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED with 1-3 years of previous related warehouse experience is required. Personnel coaching aptitude is desired.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, & Outlook.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while walking and repetitively lifting 30-75 pounds.

  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment.

  • Ability to coordinate and organize efficient and dependable warehouse processes.

  • Ability to easily transition between different work areas as needed throughout the workday.

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions from the computer monitor.

  • Attention to detail and ability to differentiate our packages.

  • Ability to multi-task and effectively work in a noisy and non-climate controlled, including high and low-temperature environment.

  • Intentional self-starter who takes initiative and proactively seeks out value-add opportunities.

  • Positive, helpful attitude.

  • Regular, consistent attendance is an essential job function.

  • This position is considered a safety-sensitive position.

  • This position is very active and requires the employee to lift and/or move items up to 30-75 pounds.

  • Standing, walking, twisting, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, sitting, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing will be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • The warehouse environment temperatures are unregulated and dependent upon outdoor temperatures. The climate can be noisy with an active environment.

  • Flexibility in work scheduling is required as work hours are subject to change based on business demands. Typical work hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm (additional hours will sometimes be required based upon workload), Monday-Friday.
