Intermountain Health Behavioral Health Services Navigator in Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description:

The Behavioral Health Navigator helps patients to live the healthiest lives possible, by being the first point of contact for individuals seeking help from Intermountain Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Services.

This position is responsible to help callers feel valued and assist callers in such a way to get care at the right time, in the right place with the best care option for their needs. This role will include scheduling new patient appointments at one of the several Intermountain Behavioral Health clinics. The Behavioral Health Navigator will also be instrumental in educating patients on how to access available mental health resources and services within their community.

This position typically works remotely and requires a private home working environment. Strong preference is for individuals to live within the Intermountain Healthcare service area.

  • Pay Range: $19.91- $30.29, Non-Exempt

  • Benefits Eligible: No

  • FTE: PRN

  • Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-8pm as needed.

Job Description

  • Answer inbound calls in a professional, caring, non-judgmental and compassionate manner.

  • Triage callers to establish appropriate level of care.

  • Assist callers in connecting with referred resources.

  • On occasion, deescalating crisis situations in order to help the caller get the appropriate level of care needed.

  • Schedule new patient appointments at various Intermountain locations.

  • Follow established triage protocols and document patient interactions.

  • Establishes and maintains an accurate resource list of treatment facilities and community resources, updating the list as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience adapting quickly when the need arises.

  • Knowledge of available behavioral health community resources.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking

  • Three years of experience working with Behavioral Health Patients in a behavioral health care setting

  • Post high school education in a related field of study.

  • Experience with scheduling practices in iCentra - RevCycle.
