GENERAL SUMMARY :
Develops and coordinates educational activities of the Cath Lab and Cath Lab Recovery (CLRR) including orientation of new personnel, in-service offerings, etc. Serves the population of neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Maintains orientation program, which is current with clinical practice in the Cath Lab and CLRR and implements it for all new staff.
Coordinates and implements plan for competency evaluation of Cath Lab and CLRR staff.
Develops and coordinates educational activities of the department including continuing education of staff members and orientation of staff to new equipment/procedures.
Acts as resource person in such areas as policies and procedures, Cath Lab and CLRR standards and other clinical topics, regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, OSHA) and suggests updates to policies and procedures as needed.
Acts as professional role model and assists staff (especially preceptors) in professional development.
Supports and participates in departmental Performance Improvement projects.
Acts as a liaison between new staff, current employees, managers, and director.
Serves as liaison for all internal and external student programs and staff clinical experiences and the coordination of student observation/participation in the Cath Lab and CLRR.
Coordinates BLS and ACLS training of department staff.
Actively participates in meetings and on inter-, intradepartmental, and external committees as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
RN license to practice in State of Iowa.
Bachelor's Degree or currently enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree program.
Minimum of two years’ experience in the Cath Lab.
Graduate of Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification program and completion of preceptorship; must be registered within one year of hire
OR completion of a two-year training program in Radiologic technology, maintain a current Iowa permit to practice AND ARRT registry and have 2 years of experience
OR an Advanced Medical Training Degree (Associate of Science degree or Associate’s degree in Paramedic, or Allied Health Profession) with 2 years of experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within six (6) weeks of hire.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or obtained within six (6) weeks of hire.
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
