Job Summary:

The Communications Manager plays a critical role in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The manager will be responsible for partnering in the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies across a variety of channels to support the College's goals and objectives relating to student recruitment, retention, and engagement.

We are looking for someone with relevant experience and a creative and collaborative spirit.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least three years of experience in communications, recruitment, marketing, public relations, social media management, journalism, and/or a related field.

Core Job Duties:

STRATEGIC PLANNING (20%): Lead strategic planning of communication initiatives. Develop, implement, and maintain effective communication strategies using the Drake brand and University Communications and Marketing (UCM) tools. Build stakeholder loyalty, brand awareness, and customer satisfaction. Create new communication and marketing strategies for programs, events, and promotions. Authority to determine publication readiness. Implements dissemination of all projects and content. - (Essential)

MARKETING COLLATERAL (20%): Responsible for the design, creation, editing, execution, and maintenance of web, print, and social media content (e.g., recruitment materials, copy, video, photography) for CPHS. Create informative and interesting marketing materials to communicate the CPHS mission and build community and brand recognition. Update and maintain the CPHS website as needed with appealing, accurate, and up-to-date content. Organize, manage, and store all CPHS marketing collateral. Provide guidance for student organizations on the creation and distribution of their marketing and communication materials. Manage a student worker to support the College’s recruitment and communication efforts through video marketing. Assign projects, evaluate ongoing work, and provide support for the student worker. - (Essential)

EVENTS (15%): Assist with the communication and marketing of the annual CPHS events by creating and managing event landing pages on the CPHS website, creating and sending print and digital invitations, and implementing social media promotion. Create videos for events and work with university staff to update livestream recordings on the website as needed. Capture photography and videos at events. - (Essential)

LIAISON (15%): Serve as primary liaison between CPHS and University Communications and Marketing, as well as other stakeholders (e.g., professional associations, communication staff from University Admissions, Alumni, Institutional Advancement) and managing a status document shared between these groups to track projects. Direct discussion regarding communications at College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences leadership meetings as well as attending meetings with University Communications and Marketing university-wide, Student Affairs, and Drake Admissions. Serve as College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences project manager for joint UCM related marketing and communications initiatives. - (Essential)

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS (15%): Coordinate the compilation of weekly email announcements and monthly Dean’s update, manage poster printing for research dissemination and other communications, and create informative graphics for CPHS building digital signage. - (Essential)

EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS (10%): Responsible for the production and distribution of the College electronic newsletter, ePharm, and other communications with alumni and the health care professional communities. Create news articles for the website and potential media pushes. Manage social media pages and groups for storytelling and to foster connection between students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Coordinate and manage an ongoing weekly student social media takeover campaign meant to support student recruitment and retention. - (Essential)

MISC. COMMUNICATIONS (5%): As needed, assist with other communications including anticipating, writing, revising, and sending correspondence on behalf of the Dean, Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and college. Prepare detailed media activity reports. Perform other duties, as assigned. - (Essential)

Salary & Benefits

The final offered pay will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experiences. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
