Description

We are looking for a Construction Manager in Des Moines, IA . The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial construction projects including safety of multiple crews (team members and subcontractors) and Foremen, and organizing and communicating work between customers and companies. The successful candidate must work closely with client planning department and know how to use an outline of work scope for execution of project.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee construction projects from construction to completion

  • Cross functional coordination for logistics with vendors

  • Ensure quality and compliance with regulatory bodies

  • Reporting and tracking status reports

  • The position requires a general knowledge of construction practices and an in-depth understanding of industrial and commercial scaffold construction principles and techniques.

  • A thorough knowledge of safe scaffolding methods and materials, as well as necessary staffing requirements for construction projects is required.

  • Due to the administrative nature of this position, strong managerial, motivational and analytical skills are important.

  • The incumbent must be able to identify all Brand scaffold material, must be able to fill out leases and return on material, must know all permit procedures and understand contracts and contract language.

  • This position requires the ability to build all standard and non-standard scaffolds (Brand and OSHA standards).

  • The incumbent must be able to ensure project profitability/labor and material rate of return and must be able to order consumable items and utilize them efficiently.

  • This position directly oversees the activities of commercial operations support staff.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and recommending employees for advancement, promotion or other change of status; rewarding and disciplining employees up to and including termination; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

  • Preferred minimum of 4 years’ experience. BS in Construction Management preferred.

  • Estimating experience a plus.

  • Must have clean, valid drivers license. Class B license highly desired (company willing to assist the right candidate in obtaining such license).

  • Experience document reviews, including revised project procedures.

  • Strong safety culture. OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain) highly desired.

  • Superior problem-solving, analytical and time-management skills.

  • Ability to lead and develop multicultural, multinational cross-functional high-performance teams.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge in using personal computer and application software including Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
