Position Purpose:

Responsible for the delivery of laboratory specimens, mail and supplies between affiliated MercyOne Des Moines facilities and laboratory customers.

What you will Do:

  • Transports laboratory specimens, mail and other materials and/or supplies utilizing excellent customer service skills.

  • Follows established procedures and policies including infection control and bloodborne pathogens.

  • Handles chemicals according to established safety protocols.

  • Meets defined workload productivity standards. Supports and utilizes LEAN principles.

  • Utilizes courier logistical software and devices to track packages and document route

  • Ensures temperature dependent materials are transported at their required storage temperature.

  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicles and courier bags.

  • Attends and participates in department huddles.

  • Follows established policies and procedures to accurately track packages and obtain optimal transport time.

  • Participates in teaching peers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school degree or GED, required.

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.

  • Two years’ experience as a courier, preferred.

  • Working knowledge of materials management preferred.

  • Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet MercyOne’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.

  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire
