Principal Financial Group Defined Contribution Document Leader II in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We’re looking for a Defined Contribution Document Leader II to join our Plan Document team. In this role, you’ll be a champion for change and a 'How can I help?' attitude to lead a hybrid and remote team of plan document services subject matter experts efficiently providing accurate, quality, and consultative services to our defined contribution retirement plan clients!

  • Oversee the production of retirement plan document packages, including amendments/restatements and summary plan descriptions. Identify opportunities and execute on solutions relating to quality, training, production, service & relationship development to advance support for complex business needs.

  • Develop a high-performing team of technical experts with working knowledge of the rules and regulations that govern defined contribution and defined benefit qualified retirement plans, along with industry knowledge and trends.

  • Guide, coach, and lead team members to deliver successful outcomes for internal and external clients. Lead through change, including using new technology, ways of working, organizational change, etc.

  • Develop and apply quality assurance measures that mitigate risk while producing a high level of accuracy in document output. Manage metrics associated with quality and associated training and development.

  • Identify and analyze escalated issues of sensitive or critical nature. Provide guidance to cross-functional teams for resolution. Negotiate solutions and act as a liaison with internal and external customers when necessary.

  • Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with business partners and teams across the Workplace Savings & Retirement and Retirement & Income Solutions organizations and continuously partner and seek to identify and advocate for win-win solutions that move the teams and business forward.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, and 9+ years of retirement, ERISA, or employee benefit related experience, including at least 4 years of leadership experience.

  • Strong technical and regulatory knowledge of qualified plans and retirement products and services.

  • Requires demonstrated experience of leading through significant change, as well as a high level of creativity, initiative, and resourcefulness.

  • Demonstrated experience leading large projects according to strict timelines and delivery schedules.

  • Must have good analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Some travel required.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
