Director | Sr. Director, Private Markets Business Development & Operations (Private Markets)

In the Director | Sr. Director, Private Markets Business Development Operations role, you’ll be part of the Private Markets division covering Private Real Estate, Direct Lending, Infrastructure, Private Placements with plans to expand into Private ABS, Private Equity, etc.

  • Strategic Business Planning, Execution, and Reporting Working with senior leaders, oversee the creation of Private Market business development, planning, road mapping, goal setting, and other strategic efforts to enhance operations and profitability. Coordinate weekly SWG agendas and meetings. Organize the framework and lead the development of annual plans and materials for the various Private Market “Working Group” Meetings. Develop other materials used to present findings, investment performance assessment, or strategic plans to the GILC, OC, the PFG Board, and other formal or informal oversight bodies. Develop, coordinate, recommend, and implement specific project or initiative action plans. Research special topics and gather competitor information and present findings to the SWG and other groups. Assist in organizing employee communications and events. Use market knowledge and competitive feedback to recommend modifications to operations and programs to enhance competitiveness, flows, or profitability. Act as a liaison between business staff, the SWG, public relations, and external groups as needed.

  • Optimization of Synergies and Operational Efficiencies Assist the new and existing capabilities within Private Markets by optimizing synergies, generating operational efficiencies, establishing enhanced business plans, goal setting, outsourcing, and in execution of business strategies. Implement new business initiatives and procedures to improve efficiencies and competitiveness. Identify high level performance improvement opportunities, develop, and present ideas, cost savings, benefits, and risks to senior management. Measure success and report results.

  • On-Boarding and Platform Oversight Help lead the seamless development and on-boarding of newly acquired platforms and private market capability builds by coordinating with diverse divisions of Corporate and Asset Management infrastructure. Functions may include research and advancement of governmental licensing, compliance assessment, fulfillment of information technology needs, creation of investment processes, securing of office space, hiring of staff members, global mobility assessment and execution, generation of announcements, and other similar responsibilities. Provide leaders access to all coloration points within the organization. Establish and manage third party vendor relationships and contracts, as necessary. Assist with on-going platform governance and operational oversight as needed.

  • Integration of New Investment Capabilities and Platform Expansion Contribute to the strategic expansion of Asset Management’s private investment capabilities, which may include organic development, company acquisition, venture formation, and lift out of investment talent to achieve new and profitable investment management platforms making strategic contributions to the net cash flow and operating earnings of the private vertical. Conduct and assist in research, due diligence, prioritization, and advancement of project expansion in private infrastructure, private ABS, private equity, and new global real estate capabilities. Serve as a Co-Project Leader or assist Project Leaders throughout the process by working with capital markets, accounting, legal, compliance, distribution, human resources, risk management, information technology, communications, and other areas. Assist in the generation of presentations and recommendations to Senior Management and other approval bodies.

  • Diversity Efforts and Rotational Analyst Program Be a leader for the diversity efforts within Private Markets by working with SEO, other similar organizations, and universities to secure high level analytical talent. Oversee the rotational analyst program established by the real estate platform, working directly with resources to assure their development and integration into the organization and local community.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree of equivalent.

  • 8+ years of investment related work experience including investment and business management expertise.

  • Project manager with autonomous abilities including being a self-starter, strong organizational skills and accomplished problem solver.

  • Proven leadership skills with previous formal or informal leadership experience.

  • Strong collaboration, relationship-building and influencing skills.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment.

  • Technologically adept and adaptable to change.

  • High level of confidentiality.

Job Level

We’re open to considering talent at either the Director or Senior Director level based on skills and experience. The qualifications listed above are for the Director level.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$153000 - $236000 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Location and Work Environments

We’re open to considering talent in our World Headquarters located in Des Moines, IA. This role offers the ability for in-office or four days in-office and one day remote. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
