Terracon Engineering Technician I in Des Moines, Iowa
Terracon has an opportunity for a Lab Technician to join our team in Des Moines, IA. This is a seasonal position and would run from May through August. Our Construction Materials Lab Technician will perform various lab tests on construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry and asphalt. You will communicate with Project Managers, client representatives, contractor’s representatives and other key stakeholders regarding testing and inspection results. Tests are performed on building construction materials in the Terracon Des Moines, IA laboratory. Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Perform laboratory testing and observation as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures. Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager. Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.
Assists senior lab technicians on complex tasks. Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel
Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
