As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

Within Wells Fargo Corporate Risk, the Independent Testing & Validation (ITV) group is responsible for establishing and maintaining a consolidated testing and validation program at the corporate level. ITV is responsible for developing a common methodology and standards, providing governance and oversight, executing independent testing of non-financial risks; and conducting horizontal and targeted reviews. Testing and validation teams are responsible for implementing the ITV methodology and standards, and executing group- specific testing.

Consumer and Small Business Banking - ITV has responsibility of testing activities for Branch Banking, Small Business Banking, Deposit Products, Marketing and Operations . This team is seeking a Senior Associate on the Small Business Banking testing team responsible for testing vertical consumer compliance regulatory requirements in the Small Business Lending, Healthcare Industries, and Small Business Relationship Banking business units. This team member will lead RCSA-based, Incremental Compliance, and control-based testing engagements, providing independent assurance on the design and operating effectiveness of business controls in accordance with Enterprise standards. Consumer compliance regulations covered include SCRA, Reg. Z, Privacy, FCRA, SCRA, Reg. B, TCPA and HMDA.

This Senior Associate will have the following responsibilities:

May lead moderate to high risk or complex review activity engagements in a matrixed environment, and communicates emerging risks to management. Completes review activities on schedule. Raises schedule delays to the review activity lead. Looks for opportunities to remediate schedule issues. Escalates any potential issues discovered during the completion of review activities to a review lead. Identifies potential corrective actions, and follows through on reporting, escalation, and resolution. Completes all documentation under limited supervision and appropriately retains all work papers (testing schedule, templates, work-papers, deferrals, deviations, etc.). Consults and implements initiatives with moderate to high risk. Internal interface with business regarding risk management. Limited to no external interaction. Does not manage other team members.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

  • An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation

  • An active Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) designation

  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization, including senior management

  • CRCM, CIA, or other Compliance/Audit Certifications

  • 2+ years of compliance and controls testing experience developing testing scripts and methodologies

  • Understanding of risk based control testing, including assessing the adequacy of design and testing the effectiveness of internal controls

  • Experience drafting issues and executive summary reports

  • Moderate knowledge of product and process within Consumer Lending

  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills

  • A BS/BA degree or higher

  • Experience in Audit, Compliance, Risk and Testing

  • Strong presentation, documentation, and organizational skills

  • High initiative, proactive, and comfort with multi-tasking

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional (CRCMP)

  • Certified Risk Professional Program (CRP) For Testing and Validation Positions Only

  • Certified Financial Crimes Specialist (CFCS)
