Job Title: Finance Director

Job Description

In collaboration with the leadership team, departmental staff, and other ancillary staff, you will support and develop complex grant and grant project budgets for new funding opportunities and grant renewals. You will coordinate with other staff to ensure grant objectives and costs are properly reflected in the project budgets. You will develop the engagement/partnership framework for negotiating mutually satisfying terms and conditions for Sponsors, Cooperative groups, and sub-awards when necessary.

You will review and analyze program deliverables with grant schedules of activities to determine appropriate cost allocation, resources, and adherence to all applicable regulations and institutional standards. You will actively participate in outstanding customer service and maintain respectful relationships with all. You will read and interpret different funding opportunity announcements for alignment with programs, including federal grant requests for proposals, and assist staff and members with inquiries in the proposal budget preparation and submission phase. You must possess the ability to create and monitor complex grant budgets and coordinate the completion of all new grant budgets and grant renewals in collaboration with relevant staff.

You will ensure that awarded grants are implemented according to grant requirements and objectives, including Time and Effort reporting. You will maintain a high level of awareness of federal, state, municipal, and other agency grant requirements. You will work closely with the Grants, Finance, and Department staff to assist with grant compliance and objectives. You will communicate with relevant team members so that all parties are aware of grant budgets in progress. You will assist with the coordination of all required grant budget revisions in the renewal and/or rebudget of grant and other funding proposals.

You will work with subject matter experts and core services to develop detailed grant budgets based on PIs input and study/project needs, and revise budgets as needed to not exceed yearly grant disbursements without prior approval of department leadership. You will create, review, revise, and negotiate simple and complex research-related budgets, including carry forward and no cost extension, consistent with relevant sponsor documents, institutional policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Des Moines, Iowa.

Work Environment

Office location on Merle Hay Road, very laid back. Day shift, flexible with hours. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
