General Purpose of Job:

Assist the Director of Human Resources in performing Human Resources related duties, primarily the day-to-day activities, at a professional level. Represent GV and the HR department in a positive, service-oriented manner.

Essential Functions of Job:

Employee Records

  • Maintains permanent personnel records.

  • Inputs new hires into the payroll system and the university information system.

  • Works with Accountant during monthly payroll processing.

  • Maintains employee data in Paycor and Colleague (new employees, changes, updates, etc.).

  • Meets with new employees and processes all new employee paperwork

  • Processes Part-time Faculty Letters of Understanding.

  • Runs reports (address, birthday, etc.) as requested.

  • Processes benefit, salary and other employee changes in Paycor for payroll processing.

  • Processes background check paperwork and credit paperwork when appropriate.

  • Assists in monitoring performance appraisal programs.

    Benefits

  • Assists in administering health and welfare benefit programs, which includes but is not limited to health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, voluntary employee benefits, and flexible spending plan.

  • Processes benefit paperwork for employees (new enrollments, changes, updates, etc.).

  • Meets with candidates during the recruitment process to present/explain Grand View-s benefit package.

  • Tracks Money Purchase Plan eligibility for participants and processes enrollments.

  • Processes COBRA paperwork (initial notices, election notices, etc.).

  • Administers and maintains paperwork for FMLA and Short-Term Disability events.

  • Administers HIPAA paperwork.

  • Compiles data for 5500 pension and welfare benefit reporting.

    Other

  • Reconciles monthly PCard statements.

  • Processes unemployment paperwork and represents the University for any unemployment claims.

  • Completes and submits workers compensation claims.

  • Works in conjunction with the Advancement department to process United Way donations.

  • Assists HR Manager with recruitment when needed.

  • Provides administrative support as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor-s degree in business, Human Resources or related field preferred.

  • Prior experience in a Human Resources office strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, required.

  • Positively interact with employees and other GV constituents and represent GV in a positive manner.

  • Strong commitment to carry out GV-s DEI initiatives.

  • Strong computer skills required.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload required.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality required.

  • Ability to work with all levels of employees in a professional manner required.

  • Familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA and related state and federal regulations strongly preferred.

    Working Conditions:

  • Standard amounts of time as expected in an office environment standing, bending, walking, sitting, reaching, using a computer, talking to people both in person and over the telephone.

  • Occasionally will be required to lift in excess of 30 pounds.
