Accenture Instructional Designer in Des Moines, Iowa

The Instructional Designer partners with the client Curriculum Strategist (CS) on the training needs analysis process, builds the conceptual design, provides Sales content proposals and guides the Development team to execute the design. The Learning Architect is responsible for the overall design and Sales content of the learning interventions. The Learning Architect provides support and has overall accountability to ensure that projects are executed according to design, process, quality, budget, and milestone standards. The Learning Architect tracks and reports progress to ensure completion according to agreed-upon schedule and within budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume design leadership responsibilities by creating proposals for course design based on discussions with the client:

  • Discusses training needs analysis and audience analysis in consultation with client Curriculum Strategist.

  • Conducts research for relevant, innovative and useable Sales content to include in the design.

  • Where relevant, facilitates Sales content gathering from Subject Matter Experts to create course design.

  • Creates conceptual designs (based on proven instructional theory) that meet business requirements.

  • Considers innovation for the proposed asset types.

  • Maintains relationships with all key client stakeholders and manages the overall relationship with the client.

  • Ensure overall quality, integrity, organization and execution of the learning design meets agreed-to quality criteria and business objectives.

  • Work to target dates to review with the client and get design signed off in time to hand over to the Development team.

  • When working with Subject Matter Experts, work in conjunction with requester to confirm agreement of involvement throughout process and set expectations for remainder of effort.

  • Identify detailed learning objectives for each Sales course based on business drivers and performance goals; map course content to appropriate learning objectives.

  • Facilitate development kick-off meeting with internal team to build understanding of the Sales content and intent for the course.

  • Lead project initiatives

  • Lead interactions with the client and provide support to the Development Leads.

  • Evaluate materials to ensure that learning objectives have been met and appropriately satisfy performance gaps.

  • Review deliverables for consistency with the detailed design.

  • Provide oversight on content revisions based on feedback from internal and client reviewers or stakeholders, work with Development team to manage work effort and maintain scope.

  • Support Sales training solutions design process

  • Identify continuous improvement areas based on lessons learned; modify process steps as appropriate for client situation with direction from manager.

  • Collaborate with team, peers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) via professional communication channels to maintain relationships.

  • Monitor course assessment results against expected service level agreements and where necessary, create proposals for updates.

  • Complete project management and administration tasks

  • Perform risk analysis and mitigation across all project inputs while removing barriers and enabling the course development team to perform optimally.

  • Provide coaching to team members regarding topics such as process, quality metrics and professional behaviors.

  • Report status including estimates to complete work; identify potential risks and recommendations for mitigation.

  • Request feedback related to deliverables and own and team performance, suggest and execute action items.

  • Ownership of course content

  • Evaluate feedback on course content after delivery and provide proposals for updates, when relevant.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in learning design or learning development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS – degree in Instructional Design, Cognitive Psychology, English, Technical Writing, Communications

  • Academic or practical industry experience

  • Solid experience in developing performance solutions

  • Solid experience leading teams

  • Prefer experience with developing training solutions for global audience; adjusting materials based on cultural needs, regional constraints and localization or translation considerations

  • Sales experience preferred

Professional Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of advanced instructional design techniques and topics, adult learning theory, and web-based development tools

  • Project management experience – ability to manage multiple projects across varied stakeholders, priorities, and time zones; ability to plan and estimate tasks; knowledge of project management tools for work planning and resource scheduling

  • Knowledge or practical experience of Sales

  • Strong research skills – able to read widely and quickly become conversant in new topics to present Sales content proposals to the client

  • Strong written communication skills - working knowledge of editorial requirements– grammar and instructional design of materials; attention to detail to ensure quality

  • Advanced oral communication skills - ability to facilitate client SMEs and sponsor discussions to set expectations and ensure appropriate involvement

  • Must be skilled in several instructional approaches (web-based, instructor-led, or virtual instructor-led training)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and MS Project)

  • Advanced knowledge of issue identification and problem-solving tools

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maryland, New York or Washington as set forth below.
