Job Description Summary
InsuraMatch is an independent agency company, owned by Travelers Insurance, that uses an innovative online platform to help consumers compare offerings from more than 40 carriers across the United States. With a focus on personal insurance, InsuraMatch offers overage for auto, home, boat, motorcycle, renters, umbrella, and flood, among others. InsuraMatch operates independently and manages all carrier partnerships.
The Sr Dir, Business Development develops and implements a business development strategy focused on identifying and implementing strategic partnerships while also managing all aspects of business development for the InsuraMatch brand (prospecting, negotiations, contracting, relationship management, and program optimization). This role is expected to expand the InsuraMatch prospect funnel by identifying partnership opportunities throughout the insurance eco-system, including carrier partners, peer national agencies, lead generation companies and businesses / associations serving adjacent commercial verticals. This role may manage others.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Develop and implement a business development strategy focused on implementing strategic partnerships for the purpose of driving insurance prospects into the agency.
Independently identify potential partners for the InsuraMatch agency in order to drive prospects into the agency. Identify potential partners able to drive insurance prospects into the agency through digital marketing, call center transfers, or other promotional strategies.
Actively manage a pipeline of multiple partner prospects at various stages of the sales cycle.
Use sound judgment in making decisions regarding deal terms of potential new partnerships.
Lead and own research into adjacent commercial verticals to insurance and seek opportunities to demonstrate the power of insurance monetization for businesses already driving significant national volume of commercial transactions.
Develop insurance carrier partnership opportunities to have the agency handle overflow call volumes or otherwise assist these carrier partners with or of appetite lead monetization.
Construct strategic partnerships with digital lead generations companies to better promote a more efficient consumer shopping experience.
Identify acquisition opportunities within the national agency, digital lead generation, associated technologies, carrier books of business verticals.
In collaboration with legal resources, develop partnership contracting paradigms and revenue share / payment arrangements, all within prevailing legal and regulatory parameters.
Collaborate with agency operations and technology teams to effectuate an efficient implementation.
Negotiates skillfully in most complex situations.
Works independently with members of legal, product, account management and operations teams throughout sales cycle on complex matters.
Independently differentiates between competing priorities and effectively handles multiple complex prospects in different points in the sales cycle.
Business Planning and Strategy:
Develops and executes on a plan to meet new business development objectives.
Anticipates and identifies moderately complex sales problems; thoroughly analyzes available information and makes timely and practical decisions.
Responsible for analyzing data and working with data / tech partners, to make sound business decisions.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant business development, sales, or other financial services experience
Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
7+ years of prior work experience in the property casualty insurance industry or its related business sectors
Strong familiarity with legal contracting topics, experience in negotiations, and a working understanding of the economics of the insurance business
Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
Extensive market knowledge
Communication and negotiation skills

Time management and planning skills
BS/BA in business administration, sales or relevant field
Highly proficient in analyzing insurance business / operations trends and quantitative analytical skills
