Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic 2
Pay Rate : $28.83/hr
Category/Shift : Hourly Full-Time (7:30 am – 4:00 pm w/ overtime as necessary)
Physical Location : 2800 Dixon Street, Des Moines, IA 50316
The Job You Will Perform:
Safely and efficiently perform maintenance tasks to minimize unscheduled downtime
Conductspreventative maintenance and repair processes while ensuring all safety policies are followed
Troubleshoot/service and/or repair balers, conveyors, shredders
Perform root cause analysis for any abnormal conditions/failures, take required corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence of such conditions (include operators in analysis as needed)
Maintain all dock levelers, scales, railings, tile, basic plumbing and cabinetry
Maintain adequate supply of approved chemicals ensuring neat and orderly storage including proper labeling
Maintain an accurate MSDS/SDS system
Ensure all maintenance and Company compliance guidelines are followed
Ensure daily reports are accurately completed, submitted and/or inputted as required
Respondto reports of broken or faulty items
Report safety concerns to management
Engage in preventative maintenance processes through facility
Attend and participate in plant safety meetings
Manage controllable costs through proper equipment, tool and consumable usage
Participate in safety and environmental audits
Assist and support implementation of EHS initiatives and strategies to reduce risk including but not limited to the areas of: OSHA, ergonomics, injury / illness reduction, hazard communication, environmental, emergency preparedness, and general employee safety
Other duties as assigned
The Skills You Will Bring:
Must be 21 years of age
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
Ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously
Willingness to work first, second and third shifts, call-ins, holidays, and overtime as needed
Willingness to cross train and learn new skills in other technical areas to enhance capabilities
Basic computer skills
Excellent teamwork, cooperation and problem solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Behavior flexibility to adapt to changing work demands and priorities
Performing work with a safety-first mindset
Forklift Certification
Wheel loader, Skid steer operation
Familiarity with Work orders, PM sheets, Vehicle Condition Reports
Ability to operate/monitor the following industrial equipment: Balers, Conveyors, Forklifts, Shredder, Roll Splitter, Loader, Skid Steer, Bin tippers
Ability to operate the following tools: Drill press,Electric power tools (grinder, cordless drill), wrenches, Measuring tools, Air tools, and other maintenance tools and equipment

Support LIFE areas, Safety Leading Indicators and Global Program Elements
Follow Safe Reliable Methods (SRMs) or Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
