    Job Description:

Facilitate the procurement of materials and related services required by product backlog. This position will assist coordination of Purchasing, incoming material flow, maintain supplier contacts, and production floor planning/scheduling. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work as assigned for procurement of required materials and services from approved suppliers. Execute instructional tactics to improve supply chain, solve shortage issues and maintain supplier relationships.

  • Obtain materials, components and equipment, as required by the Purchasing Manager, for integration into the production schedule.

  • Assist Planning/scheduling of incoming and inventoried materials through the purchasing, planning, and production cycle.

  • Expedite orders as necessary. Identify actual as well as potential delivery problems and take immediate, pro-active steps to inform appropriate Purchasing Management personnel.

  • Maintain relations with suppliers and appropriate representatives.

  • Verify data accuracy (Purchase Orders, parts numbers, BOMs, component Costs) in MRP; on Purchase orders, replenishment processes, and report problems to Purchasing Management.

  • Understand and apply MRP reports in ordering parts used in production to ensure appropriate delivery dates.

  • Maintain established freight and handling costs.

  • Complete special assignments for the Materials department as directed by the Purchasing Manager.

    SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaison between Purchasing, Production Control, Receiving, Shipping, Quality Control, Converting, and Assembly Operations Management.

    AUTHORITY

  • Accountable for the purchase of items at the established price, consistently with quality, quantity, specification requirements and timely delivery.

  • Assists in coordinating daily Converting and Production Schedules.

    Experience and Skills:

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer Associates degree from a 2-year college in purchasing, business or related area, or equivalent experience. Minimum two years of purchasing, ERP systems and/ or materials planning experience.

  • Must possess acceptable oral and written skills.

  • Read, analyze and interpret general business documents to include Purchase Orders, S.O.P.’s, technical procedures, drawings, B.O.M.’s, Work Orders and Production Schedules.

  • Assist maintaining system data and parameters to ensure company stocking levels.

  • Calculate figures and amounts, such as interests, percentages, proportions, and currency rates.

  • Interact effectively with people from various departments and business backgrounds.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires accessing all areas in the plant necessary to monitor the progress of orders. It also requires occasional reaching, stooping and lifting of office files, reports or records, typically weighing 5 pounds or less. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Involves working in an office as well as interacting with employees in the work areas throughout the company as required.
