Aston Carter Medical Biller in Des Moines, Iowa

This position will assist will assist with billing for MCO, IME, and commercial insurance and hospital charges. This will be 100% onsite role and a true contract to hire role.

Daily Duties:

  • Responsible for timely and accurate submission and follow-up of medical or dental claims on behalf of Primary Health Care, Inc.

  • Must have 1+ years of medical billing experience to be qualified.

  • Responsible for routinely interacting with various internal and external contacts, including management, third party payers, government agencies and fiscal intermediaries to effectively file claims and research and resolve denials.

  • Complete daily and monthly reporting requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with all State and Federal and third party payer requirements regarding confidentiality and billing.

  • Respond in a timely manner to billing or patient account inquiries.

  • Requires demonstration of strong technical knowledge and expertise.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent customer services skills are required.

  • Effectively research returned dental/medical claim denials to identify billing issues.

  • Including obtaining the corrected claim information and resubmitting the claim, documenting account activity in the appropriate systems, calling third party payers, and monitoring billing reports to follow-up on unpaid submitted claims.

  • Must be able to 10key and keyboard by touch, have attention to detail and be present in the work.

  • Catch on quickly to concepts and technology would work well

  • Complete daily and monthly reporting requirements (i.e. daily and monthly closing).

  • Complete secondary dental/medical billing when necessary.

  • Charge posting to patient accounts, working with Medicaid claims and billing out patient claims.

  • Perform data entry of posting charges to accounts.

  • Process the denied claims through the system as needed.

  • Knowledge of CDT/CPT codes requiring documentation for all dental/medical insurance carriers and an understanding of CDT/CPT and ICD-10-CM coding with knowledge of managed care programs and dental/medical billing requirements.

  • Demonstrate understanding of dental/medical insurance contractual agreements, Medicare and Medicaid regulations and appeals process.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or GED.

  • Dental or medical patient billing - 1+ years

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office and computerized patient accounting applications.

  • Strong 10 key skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to catch on quickly


  • CDT/CPT/ICD-10-CM coding experience

  • Dental/medical insurance experience

  • Medicare/Medicaid experience

  • Experience using Dentrix software as well as Centricity software for billing.

  • Significant experience in all aspects of billing within a clinical setting.

  • Experience in Community Health Center
