The Governance function within the Business Excellence Team provides exam management and issue management oversight, self-assurance activities, and various other governance and oversight responsibilities.

Job Duties:

  • The candidate will be responsible for supporting the intake, planning, executing, closing, and governance of exams, audits, and independent risk management reviews and all aspects of the related requests and communications.

  • The candidate will also contribute to a team responsible for awareness, escalation, and monitoring/tracking throughout the issue lifecycle (capture/plan/mitigate and monitor/sustainability/validation).

  • The candidate will provide challenge and subject matter expertise to issue owners during the review period, and will provide robust oversight of issues identified from all internal and external sources, will support issue documentation, and will provide updates, as requested, to the Corporate Risk Group Issue Management Team (GIM), Company Regulatory Relations, and leadership.

  • The individual will consult with the business to develop corrective action plans, while providing transparency and actionable information related to issues to support Conduct Management issue management goals.

  • Will identify training opportunities, deliver training, report issue findings, facilitate meetings, and develop business case to influence executive

  • management or head of business on the need for controls to mitigate risk.

  • This individual contributor must be capable of initiating action and managing change in a fast paced environment.

  • It requires a contributor with strong relationship management, influencing, vision and execution skills.

  • A key differentiator will be the ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, corporate environment.

  • The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal accountability for achievement while having ability to make timely and difficult decisions.

  • Successful candidate will have ability to distill complex concepts into simplified/targeted solutions, communicate those concepts effectively and ensure that all deliverables are met.

  • The candidate will use both vision and analysis to identify business problems and build compelling fact-based strategic recommendations.

  • They will also have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including the Head of Conduct Management, Conduct Management Control Executive, Risk-Aligned Control Teams, Companies Internal Audit, and Independent Risk Management.

  • Effective timeline management in a fast paced environment

  • Performing research of independent risk management requests and resulting exceptions, responding to review exceptions, providing timely responses, and escalating and reporting, as necessary

  • Provide challenge to issue owners and corrective action owners on issue documentation including issue intake and corrective actions, status updates, and summary/closure documentation

  • Ensure appropriate coordination with GIM to ensure timely system of record input and updates

  • Ensure appropriate and timely escalation of critical/high-risk issues

  • Designs/coordinates the development of training materials and coordinates or delivers training

  • Participates in issue verification prior to issue closure, and partners with internal audit to satisfy issue validation requirements

  • Completes various monthly reporting requirements and conducts oversight meetings with line of business partners

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning

  • Engage with internal partners in the development and improvement of our international ethics strategy.

  • 5+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management)

  • 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management demonstrated through work or military experience.
