Principal Financial Group Retirement Ops Specialist in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As a Retirement Operations Specialist in our Annuity Services area, you’ll work with business partners and our customers to coordinate existing annuity contracts. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who will thrive in an environment where the path may not always be clear.   • Review and process annuity transactions, examples include new business, withdrawals, service requests, and death claims.

  • Exercise strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and a positive experience for customers.

  • Communicate with advisors via email to resolve outstanding issues.

  • Work as a team to meet quality and timing goals.

  • Implement problem solving techniques to ensure accurate and efficient processing.

  • Identify and research unusual or complex situations and engage with others to resolve the request.

  • Prioritize and process daily work to meet customer service goals.

  • Share knowledge and information with team members to improve the overall effectiveness and development of the team.

Who You Are

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 2+ years related work experience required (customer service, financial service industry experience preferred)

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office.

  • Strong organizational, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on customer service.

  • Must have strong math and interpretation skills.

  • Must be professional, diligent, a great teammate and able to multi-task and adapt to frequent change.

  • May need to become an Associated Person of Principal Financial Securities.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$16.75 - $35.19 / hour

Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
