Job Title: Roadway Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Transportation/Roadway Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for roadway geometric design and modeling, preparation of detailed construction plans and contract documents, and coordination with various stakeholders. This role requires proficiency in using computer-assisted engineering and design software, managing project budgets and schedules, and ensuring adherence to quality assurance and quality control standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and model roadway geometries.

• Prepare detailed construction plans and contract documents.

• Perform and check design computations, design plans, and quantity estimates.

• Utilize engineering and design software to prepare documents.

• Coordinate with regulatory agencies, utility companies, and subconsultants.

• Collaborate with a team of engineers and designers on project designs.

• Manage project budgets and schedules.

• Attend client meetings.

• Adhere to company standards for quality assurance and quality control.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

• At least 4 years of roadway design or similar experience.

• Iowa Professional Engineer (PE) license.

• Proficiency with MicroStation and GeoPak Civil Engineering Suite, including Open Roads.

• Proficiency in horizontal and vertical roadway geometrics and experience in developing and manipulating roadway corridor models.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

• Strong oral communication and technical writing skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with IDOT is highly desirable.

• Experience in bridge design and transportation design.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position with two days in the office and three days remote. The candidate can report to offices located in Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, or Iowa City.
