Principal Senior Accounting Analyst in Des Moines, Iowa
Principal is hiring a Senior Accounting Analyst to play a key role in the implementation of new insurance accounting guidance (also known as LDTI) as part of the actuarial modernization project. This role provides a unique opportunity for someone to serve as an informal leader/mentor and find innovative solutions to drive the success of this high priority initiative.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Help design and build financial reporting processes to move data from the updated actuarial systems into financial reporting tools
Work with Corporate Accounting and business unit accountants to lead LDTI journal entry process for dry/test runs and recast
Design and build post-implementation process for recording journal entries (prior to possible ARE/ERP project)
Provide support for populating, evaluating and editing new disclosures in our financial reports during implementation
Present updated solutions and recommendations to key stakeholders
Deliver LDTI training materials to accounting peers and other stakeholders throughout the organization
Coordinate various aspects of the LDTI implementation with stakeholders across business units, ensuring work is performed by established deadlines
Serve as informal leader – ability to lead through change, influencing stakeholders and potentially directing work for interns
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant experience is required
CPA or similar certifications preferred
Strong data management experience or understanding highly preferred
Strong project management skills
Strong communication skills and experience presenting to key stakeholders required
Understanding of insurance accounting principles and ability to interpret technical guidance highly preferred
