Principal Financial Group Senior Business Project Lead in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

Specialty Benefits E-file is seeking a Senior Business Project Lead to join the team! In this role, you'll plan, organize, direct, control and manage complex business unit production systems, supporting systems, and workflow projects. Additionally, you'll be responsible for vendor management, including establishing and maintaining relationships, while ensuring a positive and collaborative experience for our vendors. Here are some examples of what you'll be doing:

  • Lead and coordinate new and ongoing projects to drive efficiencies and improve quality, and the overall client experience.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for work process and efficiency improvements.

  • Communicate with business partners and vendors on solutions to meet immediate and strategic needs. Build and sustain relationships to ensure timely and efficient solutions. Facilitate problem resolution and strategic discussion. Inspire change throughout the business unit.

  • Manage complex, high risk, high visibility, strategically aligned business projects for successful completion.

  • Effectively compile complex system and business process documentation for business and technical audiences with clarity, completeness and specificity.

  • Utilize problem solving techniques to present clear problem definition and provide potential solutions, including cost benefit analysis. Identify and mitigate risks. Diagnose and execute approved changes.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of project related or leadership experience, with at least 4 years of direct responsibility for project management/leadership.

  • Strong knowledge of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Application Programming Interface (API) methods of transmitting and consuming data.

  • Knowledge of various EDI file layouts (ANSI, XML, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of employer group benefits (Group Term Life, Voluntary Life, Dental, Disability, etc.)

  • Excellent leadership, oral and written communication, planning, decision making and negotiation skills.

  • Must have a high level of creativity, advanced analytical skills and proven project management skills.

  • Must have an understanding of technology applications to identify opportunities for process improvement.

  • Minimal travel (2%) may be required, including overnight stays.

Skills that will help you stand out:

  • Payroll and experience with HRIS/Ben Admin preferred.

  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and facilitate collaboration and communication with both internal and external partners.

  • Results oriented and able to adapt and deal with ambiguous situations and manage expectations.

  • Ability to execute effectively in matrix management environment.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
