Join Principal Financial Group as a Senior Marketing Strategist (Retirement Sales)! This role will identify innovative strategic and consistent core content and messaging that effectively engages intermediaries, decision makers and current clients to gain strategic commitment for sustainable target market experiences resulting in growth opportunities. You'll provide research-based customer points of view and marketing guidance to the business. Actively promotes customer insights within the business unit and is an active contributor to the understanding and mapping of target markets.
Job Responsibilities
Identify, develop, and establish core selling system marketing strategies for the defined contribution market
Develop marketing strategies to deliver compelling messaging and positioning that effectively communicate Principal's value proposition and benefits to target audiences
Develop stories and determine key content needs that will demonstrate our outstanding abilities and distinguish us from the competition
Cultivate a deep understanding and application of target market research, marketing, and competitive trends, market dynamics, and regulations
Track and analyze metrics of work efficiency and identify areas of improvement
Work closely with cross-functional teams such as product management, sales, customer support to ensure alignment and drive success
Conduct market research to find opportunities and gather insights about audience needs and preferences

Who You Are
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
8+ years of B2B retirement plan marketing experience with proven experience in helping to build strategic marketing programs that deliver strong results in the retirement industry
You possess the ability to take a complex industry and simplify messaging that tells a remarkable story
Comprehensive understanding of the financial services industry, major distinguishing aspects, benefits, as well as the target audiences and their outstanding needs
You have a well developed understanding of Principal's business, products, the industry, competition, and market opportunities along with experience with identified audiences
You demonstrate a strong level of knowledge of the marketing funnel and modern marketing strategies and tactics
Ability to translate data analytics into actionable insights and implications
Possess solid strategic and critical thinking skills
Demonstrate strong influence and informal leadership skills, to manage collaborator expectations
Willingness to travel, including overnight stays

Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)
$95200 - $182400 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
