Principal Financial Group Sr Business Operations Consultant in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As a Sr Business Operations Consultant within Defined Benefit Transition Services, you'll have the opportunity to provide consulting resources on sophisticated global issues with expertise surrounding plan deconversion services, primarily termination of defined benefit plans and similar projects. Proactively identify and implement process and system improvements. Work with, and be a resource to, other leaders in the overall management of business unit, product and/or functional area.

Here's a few of the things you'll be doing:

  • Inspire change within the division by identifying and pursuing opportunities for improvements to the most sophisticated systems, processes and/or services. Represent division on business unit task forces, committees and projects as assigned.

  • Develop new policies, procedures, workflow approaches and system improvements for products, services or plans. Lead and facilitate major components of a project/process related to area of expertise.

  • Consult and provide technical expertise and mentorship to internal and external customers on a variety of sophisticated topics. May partner with leadership in overall management of business and/or functional area. May act as subject matter expert for business applications, systems, products and functional areas.

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to less expert team members and internal customers.

  • Supervise the market to identify and recommend business development opportunities and/or changes to services offered to customers. Assist in vendor interactions as needed.

  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as vital.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 6+ years related work experience required.

  • Sophisticated knowledge of at least one functional/operational area (such as: administration, defined benefit, or plan terminations).

  • Broad range of network and PC software applications.

  • Prior project experience and facilitation vital.

  • Strong interpersonal skills required.

  • Ability to handle several tasks and priorities at one time.

  • Detail and results oriented, ability to work independently, and offer creative solutions to problems.

  • Travel may be required (5%).

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$77350 - $147600 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC).
