Principal Financial Group Sr Client Transition Associate in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As a Sr. Client Transition Associate in our defined benefit (DB) area, you'll deliver excellent customer service to DB retirement plans going through deconversion services.

Here are some of the things you'll do:

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, anticipating customer needs during the deconversion phase, providing administration, compliance, and contract and member-level services.

  • Participate in meetings with customers, group representatives, and marketers when necessary.

  • Gather and analyze deconversion information to ensure successful transition to new service provider. Monitor plan term process and work with Principal Securities and/or Principal Connection to achieve high asset retention results.

  • Coordinate deconversion of retirement plan records and asset transfer using a variety of transition methods in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Recognize and research unusual or complex situations and provide prompt feedback to customers and management. Negotiate solutions to meet both customer and business unit goals, and thoroughly document key decisions as they relate to the installation of the plan.

  • Assist with the training and mentoring of personnel on Pension services.

  • Be knowledgeable of our investment options, results and philosophy, and discuss with customers.

  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Who You Are

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent, and 2+ years of related work experience required.

  • Strong knowledge of pension plan and contract provisions required.

  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel proficiency.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical, math, negotiation, and decision-making skills required.

  • Requires having good time management, attention to detail, prioritization, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Must be able to balance working independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Knowledge of DB products is a plus.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$20.84 - $39.81 / hour

Time Off Program

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
