Department Summary:

Access and Success provides the tools and support Drake students need to be the best they can be academically. This includes academic coaching, disability services, tutoring, and other forms of support. The Student Support Coordinator is an integral part of this student-focused team.

Job Summary:

The Student Support Coordinator will be part of the Access & Success team, which is located in Cowles Library, a hub for academic resources. Their priority will be to collaboratively support students at a holistic level, they will be an integral part of the accommodations process for students with disabilities, and they will support students with their transition to college.

This is a part-time (.80 FTE) 10-month position that will typically work 9 am - 3 pm, August through May (with June and July off).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• A passion for helping people

• Strong communication and presentation skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in tutoring, student support, disability accommodations

Job Duties:

30% - Triage alerts from faculty and staff to support students of concern, including case assignment, providing referrals, and report management. - (Essential)

20% - Provide direct support to students with disabilities, including managing initial communications, reviewing requests for accommodations, monitoring the team’s email account, and coordinating specialized accommodations, including managing interpreting services and equipment needs. - (Essential)

15% - Coordinate the recruitment and scheduling of student tutors in collaboration with faculty partners. - (Essential)

15% - Provide resource support to daily Access & Success operations, including overseeing alternative testing arrangements, maintaining and updating the departmental website, monitoring and engaging with social media, and the dissemination of academic coaching resources. - (Essential)

10% - Proactively run and share relevant reports with campus stakeholders, including providing tutoring utilization reports, managing Starfish reporting, preparing Slate reports to assist with new student onboarding. - (Essential)

10% - Hire and supervise student workers to help support students with accommodations, including student proctors and classroom attendants. - (Essential)

Salary & Benefits

The final offered pay will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experiences. This is a part-time, 10-month position.
