Easter Seals of Iowa Team Leader, Rural Solutions and Assistive Technology in Des Moines, Iowa

Easterseals Iowa has a current opening for a Team Leader in our Rural Solutions & Assistive Technology Department!

This position will guide a high performing team of direct support professionals that will lead the state in providing assistive technology services along with supporting individuals with disabilities in rural areas. In addition to supervising 7-10 direct support professionals, this position also provides direct assistive technology supports to Iowans in all 99 counties. Additionally, the Team Leader will represent Easterseals by presenting at various statewide conferences, serving on state advisory committees, and is a voice for all things assistive technology, digital accessibility, and rural service delivery. This position requires a great deal of detail as it leads the programs efforts in federal and state data collection for grant reports, oversees the iowaat.org website, writes grants, and reviews assistive technology legislation and policy. This AT/RS team is a high energy, driven, team with a combined experience of over 120 years! Although this is a leadership position, the Team Leader will experience our mission in action every, single day.

Principle Accountabilities: • Perform full range of leadership duties including, but not limited to: keep team members informed of and actively support agency activities, strategic goals and challenges; coach and counsel team members; ensure department is staffed with competent and qualified team members; work with team members to ensure their personal and professional development; provides recognition to team members for positive work performance and addresses performance concerns as needed; ensure compliance with Agency policies.• Create and implement annual Assistive Technology Program strategic plan and program awareness.• Responsible for managing relationships with collaborating agencies that hold Lending Library and Demonstration kits and fee for service arrangements.• Implement a concise and quality case record and review process for the fee for service arrangements, Assistive Technology Demonstration and Lending Library, and Rural Solutions Program.• Complete individual and program monthly lending library, information and referral, recycling, and assistive technology demonstration reports for federal grant.• Provide monthly oversight and annual completion of the federal Annual Progress Report for the Assistive Technology Program, AT State Plan, AT subcontracts and partnering organizations.• Manage all presentation and vendor responsibilities and coordinate staffing.• Manage all AT Lending Library assessments, requests for information, and demonstrations.• Receive and address all calls to the general AT toll free (1-866-866-8782) number• Manage inventory of federal grant demonstration and lending library devices held by Easterseals and partnering organizations.• Manage relationship with and lead all activities related the National Assistive Technology Act Data System for coordinating services related to the AT Program.• Create and implement annual Assistive Technology Program strategic plan and program awareness.• Provide one-to-one in-person and virtual Assistive Technology demonstrations, training, and information and referral.• Maintain accurate, up to date information on Assistive Technology and related sources through educational activities and applied research.• Attend and participate in Operations Team.• Enhance team member expertise through monthly training activities and/or conversations.• Document client contact and maintain client records through monthly case record review process.• Develop rehabilitation plans and implement the objectives and goals of the plan using a client responsive approach for farm family members and rural residents eligible for the Rural Solutions Program.• Provide assistive technology demonstrations, tours, loans, and evaluations.• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements: • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field preferred• Certified Rehabilitation Counseling credential preferred• RESNA ATP certification preferred within 18 months of employment• Experience working with people with disabilities and ability to identify creative solutions required• Understanding of agricultural work site and farming as a way of life• Understanding of assistive technology and accommodation evaluations• Ability to work independently, and prioritize and organize assignments• Ability to work nontraditional hours as needed• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and the public in a professional and concerned manner• Ability to communicate effectively in written or verbal formats• Ability to operate a computer and navigate through Easterseals database• Experience in word processing software; Word and Excel preferred• Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines• Ability to pass Mandatory Reporter within first 30 days• High degree of physical stamina; Ability to ambulate independently throughout farms, client's' s homes, buildings and grounds• Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and lift• Ability to transfer or move a minimum of eighty pounds• Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work• Possession of valid Iowa Driver's License and maintenance of good driving record• Insurable under Easterseals vehicle insurance policy
