EXAMINATION: All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be scheduled for a performance examination and a written examination. Qualified applicants will be notified via their preferred method of the time and place of the exams. Those achieving a passing score will move forward to an Education and Experience review. IN LIEU OF THE EXAMINATION: Applicants who have taken the exam within the past 12 months from the application deadline may elect to use their current scores. DRIVER'S LICENSE CHECKS AND DRIVING RECORD EVALUATIONS: A review of driving records will be made on all applicants meeting the minimum requirements. Applicants not meeting City driving standards will be ineligible to participate in the performance examination. Performance Examination details are above. If you have an out-of-state driver's license you must submit your certified driving record by the application deadline. Failure to submit all required documentation may cause application disqualification. Distinguishing Features of the Class
Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic control devices, pavement markings, and parking meters; collects money from parking meters.
Performance Examination : Applicants meeting the minimum requirements and the City's driving standards will be scheduled for a performance examination on July 17th or July 18th requiring successful operation of a LineLazer IV and a written examination. Rain dates will be scheduled on July 19th or July 20th if needed.

Acceptable Experience and Training
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED; and
One year experience in on-street pavement marking layout and installation and/or traffic control signage installation and maintenance.
Required Special Qualifications
Possession of a Class D Chauffeur's license.

Candidates for this position will be required to pass a post-employment offer background check, physical examination, and drug screen.
SPECIAL NOTE: Civil Service employees who are currently employed in this classification and wish to transfer or who previously held this position and wish to take a voluntary demotion must notify the Human Resources Office of their interest prior to the application deadline.
Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only)
Installs, maintains and repairs traffic control signs, street name signs, informational and warning signs.
Fabricates sign brackets and special equipment as necessary.
Lays out and applies pavement markings.
Installs, maintains and repairs parking meters.
Collects and delivers revenue from meters.
Attends appropriate training sessions.
Operates forklifts, trucks with accessory equipment, compressors, paint spray equipment, hand and power tools, drills, augers and welders.
Performs related work as required.
