Transfer Admissions Counselor & Events Coordinator

General Purpose of Job:

As a member of the Admissions staff at Grand View University, this individual will recruit transfer students within an assigned recruitment territory, meet with prospective students and families, complete recruiting communications, provide office coverage when not traveling, and provide back-up services to transfer recruiters. This employee will also coordinate and lead all admissions office recruiting events, working closely with the marketing department, Team GV coordinators, coaches, faculty, staff and other admissions office staff to make all recruiting visit programs engaging and successful.

Essential Functions of Job:

Transfer Counselor - Recruiting students

  • Develop and implement a written, comprehensive plan to recruit and enroll student-s in assigned territory. This plan should include marketing through text, programming, telephone, email, personal notes, letters, college visits and fairs, and other field activities appropriate to the marketing of the University and its programs. This plan will encourage students to visit campus, apply, complete financial aid applications and attend Grand View University.

  • Maintain electronic information on each prospective student and complete student profile information to move prospects through the admissions funnel.

  • Coordinate financial aid awarding and follow-up.

  • Assist with the development of information necessary to inform prospective students, community college advisors, and other interested parties of admission policies, requirements, and procedures.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community college advisors, and coaches to facilitate recruitment of students.

  • Provide pre-admission counseling services for applicants, including interpretation of the transfer admissions process, information on programs offered by the University, and other assistance as needed.

    Admissions Event Coordinator

  • Serve as the primary point person for meeting the operational needs of the Admissions Office as it relates to on campus and virtual events with ensuring a high level experience for visitors.

  • Responsible for overseeing the review of desired outcomes of the events with admissions team members, assembling the agenda for the event, scheduling space needs and coordinating with Team GV leads for tour needs.

  • Collaborate with marketing on promotion needs through creation or updating of promotion plans, review of emails and print associated with the event and outreach to faculty or other staff departments needed for such events as needed.

  • Responsible for assembling of evaluation data and distributing to others.

    Serve on selected committees which support Admissions and the University overall - including orientation and registration committees.

    Maintain confidentiality as appropriate.

    Participate in professional development to continuously improve skills.

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    The preferred candidate will be goal driven with the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently in a team- based environment with the ability to balance a number of projects while prioritizing goals. They will also be a motivated self-starter and have a demonstrated ability to contribute to serving diverse student populations.

  • Bachelors- degree required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills needed.

  • Knowledge of University goals, objectives, procedures, and publications needed.

  • Emphasis with small, private college desirable.

  • Must be able to travel extensively and stay overnights; some weekend activities may be required.

  • Regularly scheduled hours are 8:15 - 4:30, M-F. Extended evening or weekend hours may be required.

  • A criminal background check will be conducted on the final candidate

  • A valid driver-s license is required. A driving record check will be conducted on the final candidate.
