RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is seeking an experienced candidate to be part of our engineering team in the Dubuque, Iowa area. You will work with our engineering staff to provide highly engineered autonomous solutions for our clients using state of the art engineering tools.

Automation R&D Engineer

This position is associated with the design and development of technology systems for next generation autonomous equipment. The engineer will be working with multiple divisions and engineering teams to drive concepts from prototype to production. Job responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with multiple business units to design and deliver demonstrated technology based systems to the Product Delivery Process

• Develop existing technology into new A2A solutions

• Exhibit project leadership, strong communication and teamwork skills within team environment

• Breakdown projects into meaningful milestones and execute projects to schedule

• Apply knowledge of company products, policies and practices to deliver technology solutions in a profitable way

• Analyze assignments and determine engineering specifications which must be fulfilled to deliver technology solutions that meet customer application requirements

• Document the design solution requirements for building of prototypes for proof of concept

• Develop and/or execute test or analysis plan for proof of concept and product verification and validation

• Collaborate and communicate with team members on system design concepts, status and decision making

  Requirements

• Master's of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering

• 3+ years experience with controls and software

• Prior use of Design Systems Modeling and 3D Multibody Dynamics

• Experience of IMU, computer vision, radar, and Lidar

• Experience with CAN J1939 communication protocol

• Experience with Matlab / Simulink toolset and deep learning algorithm

• Ability to generate state diagrams, block diagrams, and flowcharts

• Experience with digital signal processing and analysis

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  Desired Attributes

• General machine knowledge of industrial equipment or machinery

• Experience with C/C++ programming language

• Understanding of vehcile systems (Engine, Hydraulics, etc.)

• Hydraulics systems experience

• Experience with dynamic systems modeling
