National Dentex Dental Lab Technician II (Investing) in Dubuque, Iowa

Description

Our team is growing, and we are hiring a number of key positions within our organization including this opportunity at NDX Oral Arts Dental Lab in Dubuque, Iowa for a Dental Lab Technician.

The regular hours for this position are from 7:30AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday, and subject to change from time to time.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Read prescriptions and specifications received from dentist.

  • Clean flasks in preparation for investing cases

  • Mix stone and pour base layer in bottom of flask

  • Position model with wax set-up or reline or rebase on the base investment layer.

  • Mix second pour and carefully vibrate during pour to keep bubbles or voids from forming to prevent creating problems at finishing

  • When working with wax-ups, use great care not to scar wax when cleaning excess stone from around clasps and interproximal areas. Apply separating medium. Smooth areas of stone that could cause undercuts from second pour

  • Coat teeth and acrylic portions with Vaseline to prevent loss of tooth position and occlusion during acrylic injection

  • Mix stone and do third pour to fill the flask. Close flask and take to Boil Out

  • For Perform dentures, mix plaster of Paris and place in bottom section of flask, being very careful to leave no plaster on the flask edges to cause poor vacuum

  • Position model in plaster of Paris and place top of flask on and fasten

  • Boil wax off models from diagnostic wax-ups

  • Place model in water to reach correct working temperature and moisture level

  • Mix acrylic and pack or inject into flasks. Clamp flasks and place into processing units.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

  • Excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity

  • Detail oriented

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Must have 12 months of experience as a Dental Laboratory Technician and is skilled in one or more of the tasks associated with a Dental Laboratory Technician.

Hazardous Materials or Equipment Used:

  • Small machinery

  • Hand-pieces

  • Chemicals

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Required to sit, stand, walk, and/or reach.

  • Exhibit fine motor skills and/or perform repetitive motions.

  • Read and interpret prescriptions and other required documentation.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information.

  • Vision capabilities: depth perception, attention to detail, and/or color.
