Cottingham and Butler Human Resources Representative in Dubuque, Iowa

Human Resources Representative Location: Dubuque, IA Employment Type: Full-Time Employee Fast-forward one year. It was a busy year, indeed. In addition to helping the company hire and onboard 200 new employees, you have also organized training programs, coordinated employee relations events (i.e. company picnic, holiday parties, and various charitable events), managed the company intranet, and assisted in the recruiting process. You are in a pivotal role in the HR department and most of the employees have come to see you as a “go-to person.” This is a high-visibility position where your efforts will have a direct impact on the company’s ability to hire and retain top-notch employees. This is a fast-paced position that requires the ability to multi-task. There will be times that you are dealing with data and times that you are dealing with people. Because of that, customer service and computer skills (Word & Excel) are critical. Since you are dealing with employee’s personal information, accuracy and confidentiality is also important. Our department takes customer service very seriously, so if you are bothered by frequent interruptions, this might not be the position for you. By now, you are probably starting to realize that this isn’t your typical HR department- we do much more than filling out enrollment forms and remind people to complete their paperwork. Don’t get me wrong- we still have the paperwork, but we see that as one of the things that we need to do to get our job done- it is not our main function. We are a strategic department that evaluates everything we do in terms of how well we are helping the company meet its goals.
