Summary

Under the direction of the Production and Processing Manager, this position is responsible for learning all aspects of the farm and developing leadership skills. The overall purpose of this position is to build a pipeline of future leaders within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend Front-Line Supervisor Training and engage in other leadership development courses as offered by the organization
  • Rotate throughout all departments on the farm to gain an overall understanding of each department
  • Lead cross-functional process improvement project to develop leadership skills and build across-farm relationships
  • Assist supervisor with annual performance evaluations, employee training, coaching and providing feedback
  • Assist with monitoring and managing annual budget
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • BS degree in related field. (Ag, Business, etc.)
  • Experience in Food Production and Processing preferred
  • 2-3 years of experience holding a position of leadership preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Windows based systems and programs required (including MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Experience in safety programs and processes, such as Confined Space, LOTO, Hazcom, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, speak, and write English is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English preferred, but not required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Must maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must be able to work independently and with groups.
  • Must be a self-starter.

Physical Demands

Stand and walk constantly; grip, grasp, push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, lift up to 10 pounds frequently; sit, climb, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment

Clean, temperature controlled environment. Noise level is low. No personal protective equipment needed.

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Temperature varies in relation to the outside temperature. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Proper personal protective equipment will be required during certain working conditions.

Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and water, and chemicals. Temperature is regulated for operations standards. Cooler temperatures occur in specific areas. Employees are required to comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) due to working in a food manufacturing environment (hairnets, clean clothes, etc.).
