Bus Paraeducator

Job Summary

Ride the bus in the Morning and afternoon. Hours are 6:30 am to 8 am and 2:30 PM to 4 PM. Fill out appropriate medcaid forms. Manage the children on the bus.

Compensation

  • $14.22/hr (+$0.40 extra for 60+ college credit and$0.30 for Para Certification)
  • All positionsassigned 30 or more hours weekly (typically 6 hours daily) are eligible for a fullbenefits package, including medical, dental and vision insurance and paid leave.

Essential Functions

  • Riding as an attendant on a special education bus.
  • Providing safety and supervision on a bus route.
  • Assist in implementing consistent behavior management strategies and procedures.
  • Chart/graph student riding dates.
  • Perform personal care duties for students with disabilities, as needed.
  • Correctly position students with physical disabilities.
  • Implement strategies to maintain/increase appropriate behavior and reduce inappropriate behavior.
  • Supervise students in waiting areas and transfer points.
  • Follow directions from teachers, drivers and administrators.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Attend work on a prompt and reliable basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
