USG Corporation Project Engineer - Fort Dodge in Fort Dodge, Iowa

Position Description:

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer for our Fort Dodge manufacturing facility.

The Project Engineer position is a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their ability to multitask, work as a team and use their leadership skills within fast-paced Gypsum Manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Engineering and Reliability Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects, assisting with the execution of the plant’s safety program, and coordinating capital improvements enhance the safety, quality, and productivity of the Plant.

This challenging position offers a competitive compensation package, comprehensive benefits package, and the potential for a quarterly bonus. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and some manufacturing or project work experience would be considered an asset.

As a member of the plant leadership team, the Project Engineer has responsibility for employee engagement, safety, quality and efficiency within the facility.

Additional responsibilities of the Project Engineer include: Assist in coordinating and implementing OSHA safety programs.

Assist in achieving Department safety, quality and cost goals.

Assist in developing, coordinating and implementing non-routine maintenance and capital improvement plans for the operation.

Consult with department personnel to identify problems and provide assistance in methods and equipment improvements for the operating areas.

Assist in maintenance and reliability of plant equipment and facilities so that the plant remains in good operating order, consistent with standards and with a minimum of mechanical/electrical downtime. Maximize USG's product cost competitiveness, gross profit and industry position by effectively managing all Department staff and operational requirements.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset. Demonstrated leadership ability, decision making and employee relations skills.

Excellent communication (verbal and written), public speaking, and issue resolution skills. Must be a people and results-oriented individual who incorporates and emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work environment.

Must be a self-starter, detailed-oriented, and have the ability to work both independently and within a team to meet deadlines, multitask and deal with complex issues

Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and USG staff.

Use initiative and judgment in analyzing problems, determine critical factors for investigation and provide expert advice on process design methods. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Proficient with MS Office Suite and knowledge of AUTOCAD.

Lean Six Sigma knowledge or experience is an asset.

Willing to relocate for future promotions.
